Sir,

I have the honour to forward herevith copy of

a letter from the Police Maisurate dated the 7th. July reporting on the death inquiry in connection with the collapse of houses lios. 7 and 9, Upper Station Street. The verdict was death by misadventure and the Jury added three riders, with regard to the first of which I enclose copy of letters which have passed between the Colonial Secretory and the General Managers of the China Provident Loon and Lortgage Company, Limited.

The matter is still under investigation.
